Bangalore, Monday 27th April– Enviu, in partnership with the Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF), has been honored with the Collaborative Sustainability Initiative Award by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI).
Their program, Closing the Loop (CTL), is reshaping how India handles textile waste. Rather than focusing on a single solution like recycling or resale, CTL connects every player in the system; from households and hotels to waste pickers, entrepreneurs, and innovators, they ensuring every garment and fiber finds its next life. Good-quality clothes are resold through digital platforms, worn-out textiles are converted into industrial wipes, polyester-heavy fabrics become durable felt via venture, The Good Felt, and cotton re-enters the recycling stream via venture like Second Spin.
The Collaborative Sustainability Initiative Award celebrates initiatives that advance sustainable practices in fashion and textiles through partnerships, innovation, and measurable impact. Enviu, together with CAIF, was recognized for building practical solutions for circular textiles, connecting brands, innovators, waste management partners, and communities to reduce textile waste, minimize environmental impact, and promote scalable sustainable models.
Being recognized by CMAI represents a huge milestone. As India’s largest and most influential apparel trade body, CMAI represents thousands of manufacturers, exporters, and retailers and plays a pivotal role in shaping industry standards, global sourcing trends, and policy advocacy.
The award was presented at the ECO-STITCH Sustainability Conclave, supported by CMAI, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and SURE, a premier platform promoting sustainable innovation. The recognition spotlights initiatives that are turning bold ideas into practical, scalable solutions, driving the fashion industry toward a circular, responsible, and future-ready model.
