ReTex: Redefining Sustainable Hospitality with India's Top Hotels

Behind the comfort of the prestine white linens lies a hidden environmental challenge: thousands of kilograms of discarded textiles that often end up in landfills each year but reTex, a venture by Enviu is changing it.

What happens to hotel linens when they’re no longer pristine?

India’s hospitality industry is known for its impeccable standards, offering guests the luxury of crisp linens and fresh towels. But behind the plush comfort lies an often-overlooked problem: textile waste comprise of linens, towels, upholstery and uniforms.

Driven by high standards and rapid replacement cycles, Hotels across the country, discard massive amounts of linens annually. Every year, approximately 500 tons of cotton-rich hotel linens end up in landfills.​

reTex, a venture by Enviu is turning the textile waste challenge into an opportunity. By partnering with leading hotels like ITC Bengaluru, The Park , The Clarks Hotel, Four Seasons, The Den, (Bengaluru) reTex, is giving discarded linens a second life through a three-tier approach: reuse, repurpose, and recycle.

From using the high-quality linens that are discarded to make papers, recycled yarns, and upcycled products, reTex is redefining what sustainability means in hospitality and textile industry

And it doesn’t stop there. With operations rooted in Bangalore, reTex collaborates with waste workers to manage and collect textile waste, creating income opportunities while driving the industry towards circular economy. This initiative is not just about reducing landfill waste—it’s about embedding sustainability into the hospitality industry.
