Nairobi, Thursday 10th October— Enviu is proud to announce that its venture, SokoFresh, has been recognized as one of the winners of the prestigious 2024 iF Social Impact Prize. This accolade celebrates projects that contribute significantly to societal improvement and align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
SokoFresh is dedicated to addressing the pressing issues of post-harvest loss, limited market access, and income reduction for smallholder farmers in Kenya. Through the implementation of solar-powered aggregation infrastructure and best practices, SokoFresh has created a robust ecosystem that not only reduces food waste but also fosters market demand for farmers' produce.
The 2024 iF Social Impact Prize received a record-breaking 1,300 submissions from 131 countries, with only twelve projects selected for support. Each winner will share in a total prize pool of EUR 100,000, and SokoFresh's recognition underscores its innovative approach to social impact through sustainable practices.
"This intervention recognizes that farmers are best left to do what they do best; farm. What I find brilliant about the solution is that it supports and respects the farmer's vocation, serving their development needs.”
“We are delighted about the acknowledgment from iF Design for the work that SokoFresh is doing in the solar cooling space for farmers in Kenya. This award is a testament to our impact potential as we continue this vital endeavor,”
