Rotterdam, Tuesday 20th February - Enviu, the global impact organization that builds solutions to tackle the most pressing environmental and social issues, is thrilled to announce its receipt of a significant grant from the Dutch Postcode Lottery. This grant will fuel Enviu's impactful programs and ventures which aim at creating an economy that serves people and planet.
With this grant, Enviu is set to scale up its work in pivotal sectors, spanning regenerative agriculture in Kenya, fair and circular textile chains across India, Bangladesh, and Kenya, waste and plastics reduction efforts in the Netherlands and Indonesia, and the promotion of social and circular mobility in both the Netherlands and India.
Exemplary to Enviu’s work is Alner. Alner, the rapidly growing social enterprise founded by Enviu, is eliminating plastic waste that pollutes the ocean and nature. It introduces reusable packaging alternatives, specifically targeting hard-to-recycle plastic sachets and flexible holds. In Indonesia, Alner successfully diverts single-use plastics from landfills and oceans. Alner's success story extends beyond preventing plastic waste; it fosters positive community change by empowering micro-entrepreneurs in over 500 communities and collaborating with more than 7 local producers. As Alner continues to thrive, its mission's ripple effects are palpable not only in reduced plastic waste but also in the economic empowerment of local businesses across Indonesia.
We're thrilled about the Dutch Postcode Lottery grant! In a world where environmental and social problems seem overwhelming, finding practical and sustainable solutions is more crucial than ever, Dieuwertje Nelissen, Chief Program Officer at Enviu.
